Welcome and thank you for your interest in a nursing career. You may be surprised to learn that men represent only 6% of the nursing population in the United States. This is in sharp contrast to the large percentage of men that were nurses prior to early 1900s. The nursing shortage is a national problem and reaching out to men is one of the many solutions needed to solve this challenge. Partners for a Healthy Community, funded by WORKFORCE CENTRAL FLORIDA, applied for and received a grant from the Florida Center for Nursing to create a marketing campaign titled “Are You Man Enough to be a Nurse?” aimed at increasing the number of men in nursing. To become a RN you will need an Associate of Science or Bachelor of Science Nursing degree. Below you will find contact information for our educational partners. Whether you start as Licensed Practical Nurse and then transition to a RN program or decide to enter an A.S. or B.S Nursing program our educational partners can advise you on the best path to reach your goal of becoming a RN. Additional links to websites and articles that will help you in making the right decision can also be found on this page.
