Monster and Military.com Announce Services for Veterans

Monster and Military.com launched a series of initiatives to honor veterans in the workforce and to connect transitioning service members with meaningful employment opportunities. Here is an overview of those initiatives:

Veterans Job Bank

President Obama announced a series of actions as part of the Administration's commitment to getting veterans back to work, providing additional resources for veterans to translate military experience to the private job market, giving veterans additional career development support and better identifying firms looking to hire veterans. Monster and Military.com will provide job opportunities for transitioning veterans as part of the Veterans Job Bank which was unveiled as part of the Obama Administration's "Veteran Commitment."

Veterans Talent Index Unveiled

Monster.com released the Veterans Talent Index (VTI), an innovative new tool to help connect veterans and employers more effectively. The VTI provides a snapshot of the skills veterans possess, identifies the attributes employers admire in veteran candidates, and gauges how well they are matching up at any given point in time. Released on a semi-annual basis, this tool will provide a more accurate picture of the veterans hiring landscape.

In addition to these just announced veterans employment initiatives, Monster and Military.com share an ongoing commitment to veteran hiring needs and offer the following:

  • Through our online Military Skills Translator (developed by Military.com), Monster helps veterans decode their military abilities into civilian equivalents and connect them to these employers.
  • Once veterans have translated their skills to civilian terms, they can then build a resume through Military.com's Resume Builder that will match the format of other civilians applying for the same job. Because military resumes are often written in a unique style, they don't always translate well to the civilian employers. The Resume Builder bridges that gap.
  • Military.com also offers a Veteran Career Network, a unique online networking tool that allows veterans to connect or reconnect with other veterans for the purpose of sharing information about job openings or getting guidance from a trusted advisor about launching a post-military career search.
