What is the Re-Employment Connection?

The Re-Employment Connection is an employment program run by WORKFORCE CENTRAL FLORIDA that will provide employability skills and valuable work experience for adults, age 18 and up, in local jobs. Participants will have an opportunity to earn $12 an hour and work up to 40 hours a week for 26 weeks, which in turn, will have an immediate financial impact on the local economy.

How many adults will participate in the Re-Employment Connection?
 
More than 700 Central Florida adults will participate in this quality, meaningful, work experience. Each participant in the program will work a total of 26 weeks.
 
How do I qualify?
 
Adults that fit the following eligibility requirements may qualify:
  • Must be age 18 or older
  • Must be a resident of Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake or Sumter counties
  • Must meet the WIA Dislocated Worker or WIA Adult program eligibility categories
  • You may be eligible for this program if you meet one of the following criteria:
    • If you have been terminated, laid off or downsized
    • If you are eligible for receiving unemployment compensation
    • If you have exhausted your unemployment benefits
    • If you worked at a facility with more than 25 employees that announced a permanent layoff
    • If you are a homemaker who no longer receives support from another family member and are looking to enter the workforce
    • If you were self-employed and currently unemployed due to a natural disaster or economic conditions
  • Priority given to veterans and their spouses
  • Each month WCF will accept 88 applicants on a first come, first-served basis
 
How do I apply?
 
View the webinar by clicking here and then complete the online application. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. A limited number of applications will be accepted monthly.  After completing the application process, you will be directed to contact a Re-Employment Connection customer service representative to discuss your eligibility.

How long is the program?
 
Each participant in the program will work 26 weeks in one of two tracks that begin each month through April 2012.
 
How much do the jobs pay?
 
$12 per hour
 
How often would I work?
 
Participants will work a maximum of 40 hours per week.
 
When would I begin working and when does the program end?
 
Each participant in the program will work a total of 26 weeks.
 
What is the process for assigning participants to job sites?
 
Job matching will be based on several different criteria taking into consideration the participant’s skills, position requirements, geographic area of where the individual resides, availability of worksites and participant’s area of interest. WCF paid work experience will be designed to allow the participant to gain additional skills in a new industry or occupational area of their interest. Participants will interact with employers during the monthly Re-Employment Connection Recruitment events. During these events worksite supervisors will select and recommend participants to fill their open positions.
 
Can I participate in the Re- Employment Connection if I am a WIA or WT program participant?
 
If you are currently participating in the WIA or WT Program then you are not eligible to participate in this program. If you recently participated in WCF’s Summer Job Connection then you are not eligible to apply for the WCF Re-Employment Connection program.
 
What happens if I am not eligible for the Re-Employment Connection?
 
If you are determined ineligible, you will be provided with alternative referral options, which may include but are not limited to: a local community based organization, a training provider, or the closest WCF office for other job seeker services.
