Ex-Offender Resources

We understand that as an ex-offender you may face obstacles when trying to reenter the workforce. To help you overcome these obstacles, WORKFORCE CENTRAL FLORIDA (WCF) offers workshops just for you, the “Ex-Offender Overview.” This one-hour session will provide you with information on:

  • All WCF services to help you increase your education, skills and experience;
  • Special and specific strategies for your job search;
  • How to overcome employment barriers you may face;
  • Take advantage of the safety net. Work Incentives makes it easy for you to get back on benefits when and if needed.
  • Training opportunities;
  • The Work Opportunity Tax Credit;
  • The National Hire Network;
  • Project Reconnect;
  • Apprenticeship Avenue; and,
  • The Federal Bonding Program, which helps applicants who are having difficulty obtaining a job due to questionable backgrounds. In this program, a bond, or a business insurance policy, can be issued to protect the employer.

At the conclusion of the “Ex-Offender Overview,” you will have the option to receive a Federal Bonding Employer Letter, which can help you market yourself to employers that are unaware of the program. The letter briefly explains the program, directs the employer to the state website for more information and provides local contact information so the employer can reach out to WCF staff with questions.
