Do you have skills or a certification in Science, Technology,
Engineering and Math (STEM) and need to gain work experience?
You can apply for a High Tech Internship with Applied
Career Training Skills (ACTS), a WORKFORCE CENTRAL FLORIDA
program that provides qualified interns with skills and
certifications in STEM and WCF’s New and Emerging Industries (NEI)
including Cyber Security, Biotechnology, Digital Media with an
emphasis in Modeling and Simulation, and Renewable and Sustainable
Energy to employers who are facing difficulty finding
employees with these skill sets and backgrounds. All interns work
up to 35 hours per week for 16 weeks and earn $10-12 per
hour.
Adults that fit the following eligibility requirements may
qualify:
- Must be age 18 or older
- Must have STEM or NEI-related experience
- Must be a resident of Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake or Sumter
counties
- Must meet the WIA Dislocated Worker or WIA Adult program
eligibility categories
You may be eligible for this program if you meet one of the
following criteria:
- If you have been terminated, laid off or downsized
- If you are eligible for or are receiving unemployment
compensation
- If you have exhausted your unemployment benefits
- If you worked at a facility with more than 25 employees that
announced a permanent layoff
- If you are a homemaker who no longer receives support from
another family member and are looking to enter the workforce
- If you were self-employed and currently unemployed due to a
natural disaster or economic conditions
- If you meet self-sufficiency guidelines
