WCF held an Executive Search Committee Conference Call at which all persons were invited to call in at 1 p.m. The purpose of the conference call was to review and discuss search firm’s pool of prime candidates for WCF president/CEO. WORKFORCE CENTRAL FLORIDA held a meeting of the Executive Search Committee on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 9 a.m. at the Heart of Florida United Way offices, Dr. Nelson Ying Center, 1940 Traylor Blvd., Orlando, FL 32804. The committee heard presentations from the top two search firms, made a selection and negotiated a contract with the selected firm to begin the process of searching for WCF’s permanent president and CEO.

Northlake Blvd., Altamonte Springs, FL 32701 in Crystal Salon E. Discussions included reorganizing the workforce board, including the election of a chair and other officers, and workforce issues.

The Central Florida Investment Consortium’s chair, Osceola County Commissioner Brandon Arrington, received a thank you letter from Governor Rick Scott regarding the recent changes at WORKFORCE CENTRAL FLORIDA including resignations from the senior executive staff and the Consortium’s appointment of 22 board members. The Central Florida Workforce Investment Consortium appointed new board members. With the addition of two board members previously appointed on September 29, the following 20 board members have been appointed to the WORKFORCE CENTRAL FLORIDA board of directors:

Consortium Chairman Brandon Arrington sent a letter to Governor Rick Scott to update him on recent actions taken. Click here to view the letter.
The Central Florida Workforce Investment Consortium, consisting of Osceola County Chairman Brandon Arrington; Seminole County Chairman Brenda Carey; Lake County Chairman Jennifer Hill; Sumter County Chairman Don Burgess; and Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs met to discuss steps to address Governor Rick Scott’s letter.
The Consortium voted to approve Kevin Neal to serve in the role of interim executive director of WORKFORCE CENTRAL FLORIDA. Mr. Neal has served as the director of workforce services for the Agency for Workforce Innovation for the past three years. In preparation for appointing a new board, the Consortium voted to ask the current board members to resign effective October 5, 2011. Two new board members were appointed, Rick Walsh of the KnobbHill Group and Wendy Brandon of Central Florida Regional Hospital.
Governor Rick Scott placed WORKFORCE CENTRAL FLORIDA on a two-week probation, during which time the Governor demanded the immediate replacement of the entire board of directors and the discharge of all but one member of the senior executive staff. In addition, the Governor announced that the Agency for Workforce Innovation (predecessor to the Department of Economic Opportunity), in consultation with the state workforce development board, Workforce Florida, Inc., had designated WCF as a “high-risk” grantee as described in 29 CFR §97.12.
